Portraits

I have been busy dabbling with vector art lately. Here are a few portraits that I have made.

For years I’d been wanting to learn how to make vector graphics. It was always difficult because good vector illustration software, in the form of Adobe Illustrator, cost a lot. But now there are affordable alternatives, and so I have been working on developing my skills over the past couple of years. I use Affinity Designer 2 to create my artwork, which is very affordable, but Inkscape is also reasonable and free.

I have created innumerable vector illustrations for my work in the form of scientific diagrams, schematics et cetera. This is rewarding, but not as much fun as creating vector-based portraits. Here are four that I thought I’d share.

Bob Hawke

Arguably one of Australia’s most popular prime ministers, and one who is instantly recognisable to most Australians…

Julia Gillard

Australia’s first (and so far only) female prime minister…

Paul Keating

No-one could match prime minister Paul Keating for wit in the 1990’s… it’s the portrait that we had to have!

Anthony Albanese

This was the very first vector portrait that I created (and hence it’s the least accomplished), but here is our current prime minister….
